Community at the Core: Why We Support InControl Crash Prevention
At Long Hagan Huff-Harris, we pride ourselves on being more than just a law firm. We’re neighbors, partners, and active members of the communities we serve. Whether through our legal work or local outreach, community engagement is at the heart of who we are. One of the most meaningful examples of that commitment is Partner Sean Hagan’s involvement with InControl Crash Prevention, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing teen and adult automobile crashes through hands-on driver training.
What Is InControl Crash Prevention?
InControl is a Massachusetts-based organization that delivers crash prevention training designed to teach drivers how to avoid collisions and respond effectively in emergencies. Their mission is simple but powerful: to save lives through education. InControl offers advanced driver training classes for teens, adults, and senior drivers—and has trained over 40,000 people since its founding.
The program goes beyond what typical driver's education covers, focusing on real-world driving scenarios: panic stops, emergency lane changes, and regaining control during a skid.
Graduates of the program are statistically less likely to get into accidents, making InControl not just a program, but a public safety investment.
Sean Hagan’s Role: Board Member, Advocate, and Father
Sean Hagan, a partner of Long Hagan Huff-Harris, has been serving on the Board of Directors at InControl for eight years. His connection to the organization runs deep—both personally and professionally.
“Driving is the most dangerous thing we do on any given day. I’ve seen car crashes change client’s lives in an instant and wanted to be part of a proactive solution.”
Sean brings to the board his legal training, business acumen, and a deep commitment to risk mitigation. His work with InControl reflects the same values he brings to his legal practice: prevention, education, and protecting what matters most—families.
Why It Matters to Our Firm
At Long Hagan Huff-Harris, our clients trust us to plan for the unexpected—wills, trusts, family law, and business succession all deal with life’s big “what-ifs.” But part of building a strong community is addressing risks before they become realities. That’s exactly what InControl does.
We see the value in organizations that, like us, educate and empower people to make informed decisions. Whether we’re walking clients through estate planning or volunteering at a safety training event, we believe in showing up with purpose.
“InControl’s mission aligns with the preventative mindset we bring to our legal work,” Sean says. “It’s about giving people tools today that protect them tomorrow.”
A Culture of Community Involvement
Sean’s work with InControl isn’t an outlier—it’s a reflection of a firm-wide culture of giving back. From sponsoring local educational events to serving on nonprofit boards, our attorneys and staff are proud to roll up their sleeves for causes that matter.
We don’t believe in staying on the sidelines. Being part of a community means actively investing in its well-being. And when one of our partners leads the charge in an organization that saves lives, we can’t help but feel proud.
If you have a teen driver in your life—or if you’re an adult who never had the chance to learn advanced crash prevention skills—InControl could be a life-changing (and life-saving) opportunity.
